Picnic pie made from simple and affordable products based on French recipes. The cake is quite dense, but juicy, it is convenient to take with you on a picnic or on the road - the dough almost does not crumble. Improvise with fillers! It is clear that boiled sausage will replace sausages, but you can diversify the filling by adding slices of hard cheese, finely chopped ham, dried tomatoes.
Hot picnic pie is very tasty, but, when it cools, does not lose its taste.
I often cook such pies in the middle of the week, since it takes very little time to prepare, and while the cake is sitting in the oven, there is always a lesson for the practical hostess! The result is a very attractive pastry - time is short, and it looks like a lot of energy has been spent.
The classic shape for such cakes is rectangular, but you can bake the cake in any shape.

Ingredients for a picnic pie
For the test:
- 3 chicken eggs;
- 155 g wheat flour;
- 45 g sour cream;
- 35 ml of vegetable oil;
- 2 tsp. oregano;
- 1 tsp. dried thyme;
- 1 \ 2 tsp. soda or baking powder;
- salt.
For the filling:
- 350 g of milk sausages;
- 120 g black pitted black olives.
- 2-3 onions;
- salt, vegetable oil.
Method of making a picnic pie
Chicken eggs, ideally, these are free-grazing organic eggs from chickens, break them into deep dishes for dough and add vegetable oil to them.
Stir the eggs and vegetable oil with a whisk, add sour cream, and mix the liquid ingredients again until smooth.
We combine wheat flour of the highest grade with soda or baking powder, salt, add dried herbs - oregano and thyme.
Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry, knead the dough. The dough for this cake does not need to be kneaded for a long time, mix the ingredients well enough so that there are no lumps in the flour.
Two or three small onion heads are cut very finely and fry in vegetable oil to a transparent state, add a pinch of salt, cool the onion ready. Sausages cut into cubes, black olives rings. Add the stuffing to the bowl with dough, mix well.
The baking dish (in this recipe is a rectangular shape measuring 22 x 11 centimeters) is covered with greased parchment. Put the dough on the parchment, level it.
Tip - always leave long pieces of parchment around the edges of the form, for them it is convenient to pull out the finished cake from the form.
Bake the cake for 35 minutes in an oven heated to 175 degrees.
The dough to which the baking powder or soda is added cannot be left raw for a long time (the soda starts to work, bubbles form), so if you cook this cake, first turn on the heated oven. By the time you make the cake, the oven will already be warm and you can immediately send the cake to a hot oven.
Remove the finished picnic pie from the mold, remove the paper immediately, otherwise it will dry out and stick. Cool the cake on a wire rack.
