I have a niece who flatly refused to eat fruits and vegetables in her incomplete 3 years, preferring cookies, some meat and a lot of candy. Since the girl was extremely insistent, my sister and I infinitely invented and searched for different recipes that our little picky would eat.
At that time, the Internet was a wonder, so we went through magazines together and invented ourselves a little. We gave birth to tomato and meat pancakes, meat rolls with vegetable filling and lots of fruit desserts. It was apple sauce ice cream, and banana and peach muffins, and once we made apple donuts.
They were so unreal tasty that the next portion was much larger. The most delicious apple filling is sweet and sour hard apples. They are not strongly fried and have their own distinct taste, which is transmitted to the batter. Such baking reminds cakes to taste, but not banal fried apples.
Cooking time - 20 minutes
Number of servings - 2
- 2 dense apples
- 1 egg
- 2 tbsp. l potato starch
- 2 tbsp. l wheat flour
- 60 ml of ice water
- 200 ml refined vegetable oil
- pinching baking powder for dough
- ground cinnamon for sprinkling
The first thing you need is to cook a batter. For high-quality mixing of dry ingredients, it is better to combine them, and then sift. So we combine the flour, baking powder and starch. The texture of potato varieties is more loose, and the batter turns out to be more delicate than when using cornstarch.
We drive in an egg and pour in half cold water.
Whisk with a whisk. The batter should be a bit thick, but not too thick - like dough for thin pancakes. In case of excessive density, pour in some water in parts.
Peel the apples and cut them into 5 mm thick mugs. The center is extracted with a special knife, die-cutting or working with a knife with a sharp edge, removing the core.
Pour the oil into the pan and heat well. Dip apple slices in batter, fully immersing the pieces in the dough.
Put apples out a little apart from each other in boiling oil. Fry on both sides until cooked.
Spread the fried pieces on a paper towel to get rid of excess oil.
Sprinkle with chilled cinnamon slightly chilled ringlets - and can be served on the table.
If you plan to serve apple rings hot, serve them with sour cream or thick homemade yogurt.
And if cold, sprinkle them with powdered sugar mixed with cinnamon, and add hot cocoa or tea with mint.
Traditional presentation of this dessert - with a scoop of delicious ice cream.
