The only drawback of such nutrition is that we do not know exactly which products were used in the preparation of shawarma, how fresh they were, and in what sanitary conditions they were observed. In order not to risk your health and the health of your loved ones - make pita bread with fillings at home! It’s not at all difficult and you’re even surprised at how easy it is to create pita with a recipe.
Ingredients Required for 6 Servings:
- 1 tbsp. boiling water;
- 1.5-2 Art. wheat flour;
- 0.5 tsp. salts;
- 1 tbsp. vegetable oil (optional).
- Fresh greens to choose from;
- 300 g boiled or roasted meat;
- 3 tbsp. mayonnaise;
-3 tbsp. ketchup;
- 3 tbsp pesto sauce or any other;
- black pepper and mustard - on request;
- Korean carrot, cabbage, french fries - on request.
Those who like dough without fat or adhere to a healthy way of eating, you can not include vegetable or olive oil in the list of ingredients, but with it the dough becomes more flexible and soft. Pour the oil into the container and add salt to it.
Pour 1 tbsp. boiling water.
Pour 1 tbsp. wheat flour and immediately begin to stir the entire contents of the container with a fork. Do not use the whisk - it will not withstand the pressure of the thick dough.
Add flour as needed and knead the stiff dough. Round it into a bun and give 15 minutes to rest. During this time, the gluten will start to act and the dough will become soft and pliable, and besides, it will also cool down a bit. This method of mixing is called “brewed”, as the flour is simply steamed in boiling water.
As soon as the specified time passes, divide the dough into 7-8 parts and roll each of them into a thin layer, making the working surface flour. It is not necessary to adhere to a strict round shape, but if you like everything in order, then just place a plate on the layer of dough and cut off the pita bread according to it - a great circle will come out!
Heat the pan without oil and place a circle of dough on it. Bake on each side for 1-2 minutes until rosy tan, and then spread on dosochku or plate. So bake all the pita breads.
Be sure to soak a towel or handkerchief in water and cover the finished dough products with it so that they do not dry out, otherwise you will not be able to roll them anymore.
Then put one pita on the plate. Place greens of your choice, boiled or roasted meat on its edge. Add ketchup and mayonnaise, various sauces and snacks, for example: Korean-style carrots, cabbage salad, beets, etc.
I use duck breast in the recipe.
