It's time to harvest the green peas. I always liked the unhurried pace with which my grandmother cleaned peas from pods, something was very peaceful and soothing in the process. In the center of the table was a large bowl, which was gradually filled with harvest, and grandmothers' girlfriends were sitting around and, softly talking, peeled the peas. In order to get 300 grams of green peas, you need to peel about 500 grams of peas in the pods.
After removing the valuable vegetable from the shell, you can very quickly cook a delicious, fragrant and healthy summer soup.
The vegetables I added to the soup are not necessarily taken in the proportion of the recipe. Maybe in your garden is growing something more suitable for such a case. The main thing is that the base is thick, and for this you need to put more zucchini, and be sure to add fragrant fresh pepper, because, combined with green peas, it will make the flavor of the soup unique!
Unlike dried peas, soup with green peas is made instantly. Make sure that the peas are not digested, and the peas are preserved whole.

Ingredients for green pea soup
- 400 g chicken;
- 300 g of green peas;
- 500 grams of zucchini;
- 250 g carrots;
- 150 g onions;
- 150 g tomatoes;
- 100 g of bell pepper;
- 2 fresh chilli pods;
- 4 cloves of garlic;
- 15 g of olive oil;
- 10 g ground paprika;
- 1.5 L chicken broth.
Method of making green pea soup
The ingredients that will be needed in order to cook pea soup with green peas. I think that it is not necessary to strictly adhere to the specified amount in grams. Perhaps some other goodies have grown up in your garden that can be added to this summer soup. Experiment, and success is guaranteed!
Cooking soup base. Fry in a deep pan or pan finely chopped onions, to which we add garlic, chicken pieces and diced young carrots a little later.
When the chicken pieces are browned and the vegetables are soft, add potatoes, chopped tomatoes, zucchini, peeled and cut into small cubes, fresh green peas. Fill all these ingredients with ready-made chicken broth, but if you don’t have broth, ordinary water will do, just the taste of the soup will be less saturated.
We put sweet and bitter pepper in boiling soup along with ground paprika. Carrots, tomatoes and paprika will give the soup a beautiful orange color, and sweet, fresh peppers and green peas will complement each other very well. Add salt, cook pea soup for 30 minutes over medium heat.
Do not overcook the soup with young green peas. Peas are very tender and can boil soft! 30 minutes is enough for all the vegetables to cook well. Try not to mix the soup once again, so that the delicate green peas remain intact.
Ready soup seasoned with fresh herbs and pepper. Served with fresh toasted croutons, this is a classic addition to pea soup. Enjoy your meal!
